Healthy pizza recipes

Everyoneś favourite food dosen´t have to be forbidden from a healthy diet. Here are some healhy pizza recipes. I´ll try to update this page as much as I have time for it, stay tuned.

Lavash Pizza with a Salad of Greens, Gorgonzola, and Toasted almonds.

1/2 cup (125 ml) whole blanched almonds ( or whole natural ).
1 1/2 tablespoons (23 ml) white wine vinegar.
3 tablespoons (45 ml) extra-virgin olive oil.
Salt and freshly ground black pepper.
4 pieces lavash bread, cut into 8x12 inch rectangles.
6 ounces (180 grams) grated mozzarella cheese.
8 cups (2 L) baby salad greens.
4 ounces (115 grams) Gorgonzola or other blue-veined cheese, crumbled.

Makes 4 ( 8x12 inch ) lavash pizzas.
Active time: 20 minutes
Start to finish time: 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Place the almonds on a baking sheet, and bake until light golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Chop the almonds coarsely ( this can be done several hours in advance ). Increase the oven temperature to 400F (200C).

In a small bowl, whisk together the vinegar and olive oil and season with salt and pepper. This can be done several hours in advance.

Five to 10 minutes before serving, place one sheet of the lavash on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven until it just begins to take on a light golden color, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the oen and sprinkle the grated mozzarella onto the top, destributing evenly. Place the lavash in the oven again and bake until the cheese is melted and the lavash is golden and crisp, 2 to 3 minutes.

In the mean time, toss the salad greens and almonds with the vinaigrette. When the lavash is golden and crisp, remove from the oven and top with one-quarter of the salad. Sprinkle with one-quarted of the Gorgonzola onto the top. Cut into squares or rough shapes and serve immediatley.

Repeat with the remaning ingredients, making 4 lavash pizzas in total.

Pizza primavera:

Savour the flavours of feta cheese, olives and herbs in this pizza primavera, and pour a glass of Sangiovese wine.

2 small zucchini, cubed or sliced
1 small eggplant, cubed or sliced
Small red or green pepper, diced
1/2 onion, sliced
1 lb. (450 g) store-bought pizza dough
Extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, minced
4 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
A dozen of black olives, pitted and halved
Feta cheese, crumbeled (optional)
Fresh herbs (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 425 F (205 C)
2. Roast zucchini, eggplant, pepper and onion for 5 minutes on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
3. Meanwhile, divide dough in half and roll out 2 rounds. Transfer to baking sheets (dusted with cornmeal or flour) drizzle dough with a little olive oil and sprinkle with minced garlic.
4. Cover with sliced tomatoes, divided evenly between each pizza, then add the roasted vegetables.
5. Top with olives, feta cheese and some fresh herbs, if desired.
6. Bake pizza primavera for about 10 minutes.

Pepperoni, Onion and Olive Pizza:

We're jazzing up a classic pizza favourite by adding olives and thinly sliced sweet onion on the pepperoni.

1 Pound refrigerated fresh pizza dough
Cooking spray
1 tablespoon yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup lower-sodium marinara sauce
1/2 cup thinly sliced sweet onion
10 nicoise olives, pitted and halved lenghtwise
3/4 cup (3 ounces) preshredded reduced-fat-4-cheese-Italian-blend-cheese.


1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2. Place dough in a bowl coated with cooking spray, let dough stand, covered, for 15 minutes.
3. Sprinkle a baking sheet with cornmeal, roll dough into a 12- inch circle on prepared baking sheet.
Spread sauce evenly on the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Top with onion, pepperoni and olives and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 450 degrees on the bottom oven rack for about 17 minutes or until crust is golden.

BBQ Chicken Pizza:

A Delicious BBQ Chicken pizza that you can surprise your friends, family or yourself with.

1 (10 ounce) Italian cheese- flavored thin pizza crust (such as Boboli)
3/4 cup tomato chutney
2 cups chopped roasted skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 2 will do)
2/3 cup diced plum tomatoes
3/4 cup shredded extra-sharp white cheddar cheese
1/3 cup chopped green onions



1. Preheat oven to 450 Degrees
2. Place crust on a baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 3 minutes. Remove from oven, spread chutney over crust, leaving a 1/2 border.
3. Top chutney with chicken. Sprinkle diced tomato, cheese and green onion evenly over chicken.
4. Bake at 450 Degrees for 9 minutes or until cheese melts.

Note: If you can't find tomato chutney, make your own. Combine 2 cups diced plum tomato, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 3 tablespoons cider vinegar, 1/8 teaspoon Jamaican jerk seasoning, and one minced garlic clove in a small sauce pan: bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cook for 20 minutes or until thickened.

Quick Pizza Margeritah:

This classic pizza is sure to be a hit. Fresh herbs and balsamic vinegar add flavour without adding unnecessary calories. Pile on additional veggies like spinach, red onion or sliced zucchini for a colorful variety and for extra nutritional value

1 (10 ounce) refrigerated pizza dough
cooking spray
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 garlic clove, halved
5 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced about 3/4 pound
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded fresh mozarella cheese
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1. Preheat oven to 400 Degrees.
2. Unroll crust dough onto a baking sheet coated with cooking spray, pat into a 13x11 inch rectangle
3. Bake at 400 Degrees for 8 minutes. Remove crust from oven and brush with 1/2 teaspoon oil. Rub crust with cut sides of garlic.
4. Arrange tomato slices on crust, leaving a 1/2 inch border. Sprinkle evenly with cheese. Bake at 400 Degrees for 12 minutes or until chees melts and crust is golden.
5. Combine 1/2 teaspoon oil with vinegar, stirring with a whisk.
6. Sprinkle pizza evenly with slieced basil, salt and pepper. Drizzle vinegar mixture evenly over your delicious pizza.
